As we say hello to 2022, I wanted to take some time to point out some of our best podcast episodes from this past year. Have you subscribed to our podcast? Our show, Enclosure Experts, features industry-leading construction and design professionals interviewed by the editorial staff of Building Enclosure.
On Enclosure Experts, we discuss industry news and thought-provoking innovations and ideas that are sure to keep you informed on what's going on in the AEC industry, as well as keep you entertained.
In 2021, we discussed robotics with Prasoon Shrivasta, CEO, and founder of Prasoon Design Studio. Prasoon offered some key insights into how technology will change the way we design.
The Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute joined us to discuss the launch of a new Architectural Certification Program. We were joined by Randy Wilson, PCI Director of Architectural Precast Systems, to find out more about this new program and what it has to offer to the AEC industry.
In one of our most popular episodes, "Infrastructure Improves Agriculture: Wisconsin Leads the Way in Sustainability Design," Maria Redmond, the Director for the Office of Sustainability and Clean Energy for the Department of Administration in Wisconsin, joined us to talk about how infrastructure can improve agriculture and some of the best ways to enhance climate resistance in state buildings.
Following our coverage of the collapse of the Champlain Towers South in Surfside, Fla., Sarah Orton, a professor of civil and environmental engineering at the University of Missouri College of Engineering sat with us to discuss her work to learn more about why buildings fall and how to prevent disastrous collapses from occurring. Sarah discussed observing how the influence of time can contribute to a building’s collapse.
Last but not least, Daniel Overbey, the Director of Sustainability for Browning Day, went over what embodied carbon is and why it's important, the impact it has on the built environment (new construction and rebuilds) and how architects can track the embodied carbon of their projects in an effort to reach 2030 goals.
Those were just a few of our favorite discussions we had this past year. Are there any topics you’d like to see us discuss in 2022? I’d love to hear your ideas! Feel free to email them to me directly at lewisl@bnpmedia.com. I look forward to hearing from all of you!
Cheers to a safe, successful and happy 2022.
